Self defence moves

There are five primary things you should know about self defense. When it comes to actual fighting you will find nothing but the truth within this special article. Try to remember these tips in your next battle.

Street self defense fighting tips #1- Always give a mugger any inanimate object, like a wallet, if they come at you armed and threatening. Remember that you always can report a fraud on your credit card or bank account and you cant get your life back once its been taken. What would happen if you tried unsuccessfully to take the knife from the mugger?

Street self defense tip & moves #2- The things that you see people do in fights on television are very ineffective in a real fight. So the guy saw something on TV, he thought he would try to disarm the guy holding the knife. In the end the guy almost bled to death because of the stab that he got in the thigh from trying a flying sidekick. Never copy the moves you see in wrestling or movies.

Street self defense fighting tips #3- You can take a hit or kick without it being as painful. You should probably practice ways to do this with a friend , and not much padding so that you can find what works best for you. You should also practice getting hit, throwing some hits of your own, and maintaining your focus while in a very active fight.

Street self defense fighting moves #4- When you decide to take martial arts you should work hard to learn these moves in a way that you will always know them, and easily use them if you need to. You will also need to learn to focus despite constant attack, and excessive stress that comes with being in a fight, instead of allowing yourself to crumble under the fear and pain.

Street self defense fighting moves #5- Fights in the street don't have any rules, or anyone determining fairness, and you should always keep in mind that anything goes on the street. If you have an opportunity to bite their ear, go for it! Remember that kicking someone in the groin isn't a bad move it's actually pretty good. If you can stab him in the eye, do what you need to do.

Remember that trying the fighting stuff you see in tv and in the moves can get you killed out on the streets. Don't attempt to do any fancy kicks or acrobatics in a fight either, because you will be unsuccessful.

2009 LPGA hosted in Torrey Pines

Paula Creamer won the Samsung World Championship last year, when it was held in Northern California. (File photo / Getty Images) - The LPGA Tour is returning to San Diego this year with a premier tournament to be played at Torrey Pines.

City officials and representatives from International Management Group will announce this morning that the $1 million Samsung World Championship will be played Sept. 17-20 on the Torrey Pines South Course.

The 72-hole event, sanctioned by the LPGA and staged by IMG, will feature 20 of the best players in women's golf, including 2008 Samsung champion Paula Creamer and the tour's biggest star, Mexican Lorena Ochoa.

"Torrey Pines is held in such high regard, and this is a tournament with the best players on the LPGA Tour, so it's an attractive fit that works for everybody," said Torrey Gane, the tournament director from IMG who moved into a San Diego office recently.

A deal to bring the 29th edition of the Samsung to Torrey Pines has been in the works for more than a year. Negotiations moved slowly until after the 108th U.S. Open was held on the South Course last June. Since then, discussions have focused on matching dates with when the Torrey courses were available.

Initially, the South Course was booked with several large corporate outings during the September week the LPGA had designated for the tournament. The North Course was being considered by IMG, but after two corporations canceled their bookings on the South, it became available.

The city's agreement with IMG is to host this year's tournament, with an option for 2010. Tournament week begins Monday, Sept. 14, but practice by the LPGA players will be limited that day because a corporate outing on the South will go on as scheduled. The North Course will host its usual public play during the week, according to City Golf Manager Jon Maddern.

The deal calls for IMG to reimburse the city's golf enterprise fund for lost green fee revenue on the South and staff overtime during the week. Maddern has estimated that figure to be $200,000.

Maddern said very little extra work is required to bring the South to the LPGA's requirements. He said the tour's agronomy officials have requested the rough be 2½ to 3 inches, and that's around where it's set for the general public. The green speeds will be around 11 on the Stimpmeter, and that can be accomplished in a matter of days.

The women will play the South at about 6,700 yards, or about 80 yards longer than the white tees. "Quite frankly, I think it's going to be very interesting to see what the women shoot out here," Maddern said. "Their short-iron games and putting has always intrigued me. It's a difficult golf course, we know that."

This won't be the first time the LPGA has played on the South, although it was a far different track when Hall-of-Famer Patty Sheehan shot 10-under and won the 1983 Inamori Classic.

The visit to Torrey turned out to be a one-shot deal. The Kyocera-Inamori Classic wasn't played in 1984 and moved to Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in '85. Twelve Kyocera events were played on five area courses, the last in 1993 at Stardust Country Club, on the Mission Valley property that is now Riverwalk.

The Samsung World Championship was the brainchild of IMG's late founder, Mark McCormick. Since 1980, it has been played at 15 venues, including Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert from 2004-07. Annika Sorenstam is the event's all-time winner with five titles.

The Half Moon Bay Golf Links hosted last year, and Creamer, a Northern California native, was the popular winner. Gain said IMG does not keep attendance figures, but she said ticket sales were up 270 percent from the previous year at Bighorn, when Ochoa won.

"There was tremendous appeal at Half Moon Bay, but I'm certain we'll get a lot more fans in San Diego," Gane said. "It's a true golf community and the first time the LPGA has been here in over 15 years."

The field will be of top quality. The defending champion (Creamer) and last year's leading money winner (Ochoa) already have qualified. The winners of this season's four majors will be in the field. One exemption goes to the top money winner on the Ladies European Tour (who is often also a member of the LPGA), one goes to a Hall of Fame player if she is in the top 30 on the current money list, and one goes to an invitee of the championship committee. The other players will come from the top 20 on the tour's money list as of Aug. 31

Why learning a good golf swing is hard

For some reason or another you've develop a bad looking slice which sees your ball going everywhere but the fairway, then it's entirely understandable that you want to improve your golf swing. While there's no magic pill, you may find that the suggestions in this article will help you to greatly improve your swing in a very short period of time.

While there's no magic bullet, you may find that the suggestions in this article help you to improve your swing in a relatively short period of time. Imagine being able to hit your ball straight down the fairway every time, and imagine being able to chip your ball onto the green just a couple of inches away from the hole. Wouldn't it be nice if you could sink your ball on the first putt every time, irrespective of where about on the green your ball is?

Now, even though you may feel that this is the sort of things dreams are made of, you need to realize that it can in fact become reality if you are able to develop a consistent swing, irrespective of which club or iron you use. The vast majority of people who play golf already realize that consistency is the secret to low scores.

No matter what your current problem is, if you can develop a consistent swing your game will inevitably improve. So, why is the Golf swing so critical? Basically, if you were to hit the ball correctly, it would be the center of the club head that hits the ball. you can be very sure that your swing path is corrected when the ball goes where you intended the ball to go. Of course, if you want to develop a consistent swing then you need to begin incorporating a few simple techniques, such as fading and cutting for example. If like so many other players you tend to have a high handicap, and you're desperately trying to hit the ball straight every time, then developing a consistent swing will almost certainly make this goal possible.

You really need to begin examining your own swing, and by that I mean you need to examine the address, your take away, the transition, your back swing, your downswing, and also your follow through. Upon examination of these you're bound to discover several different things, and it's only by analyzing all of these that you'll be able to improve your game.

Even though most golfers realized how important and how complex a golf swing really is, not many beginners do, and if you cannot understand this, there is simply no way it can be explained.

In that case, you'll need to discover this for yourself by actually playing and practicing your swings.

How best to defend against a kick

No matter how great a striker or wrestler you are, you are going to come up against fighters who insist on leading in with kicks to your legs to either take you down or weaken your legs which will make you slow and easy to knock down. And it is frankly amazing to see even well rated fighters who appear untrained in who to deflect these blows, specifically from low kicks to the thigh and knee. No matter how hard you train or workout in the gym, certainly a well placed blow to the knee you could at the least put you out of the octagon for some months or end your career all together. Following are some tips for your to try out in your next sparring session that will likely take your opponent by surprise and give you the upper hand.

Again these are defenses specifically against lower body MMA style kicks. Firstly you do need to avoid connecting a shin on shin as this could easily result in the shattering of your bone doing serious damage. Instead the first most basic defense you can try is instead of taking the blow to the side of your thigh as you will most often see in UFC competitions try turning your leg outwards to absorb the blow with the front of your thigh at a 90 degree angle with your attackers shin. You ought to find this much easier to absorb and less painful than the way you normally practice.

Secondly you can try to catch your opponents strike with the front of your ankle - the center point of the curve from your lower leg to foot. This is an extremely hard bone. The trick is to raise your leg and push out and forward as you connect, breaking the power of the incoming kick, causing a great deal of pain to your opponent and throwing them off balance leaving them open to your follow through attack.

The third and possibly easiest move to add to your arsenal is to make your attacker strike you on the front ball of the knee with his shin. To do this of course you must left and bend your leg to avoid breakage. But your opponent's shin connecting with your extremely hard knee will if not break his leg at least put them in such excruciating pain, that they will not want to strike you again. This not only will throw them off guard and injure them but throw off their strategy and confidence helping you to gain the advantage and claim victory. But please practice these moves with care to avoid injuring yourself as well and always practice with the correct martial arts gear for you protection.

Learning these techniques are not easy and shouldn't be taken lightly. You must practice these before attempting to perform these in a live competition. So, just have you and your partner gear up with shin or foot guards and start working on the different way and see what feels most natural to you. You will begin gravitating towards one specific move so that can be your defense against your opponent's kicks.

Different Tae Kwon do Technique and Forms

In Martial arts, specifically Taekwondo is considered by many to be an ideal workout as it combines most elements sought after in a balanced fitness program. Many people understand that there are various styles of martial arts but they do not realize that within a style like Tae kwon do there are also various styles.

Tang Soo Do: Tang soo do is an extremely popular martial art that evolved from the kicking arts of taekyon and subak. It is similar to tae kwon do and maintains its heritage as a traditional way of promoting the values of self-control, respect, and discipline in the pursuit of self-improvement. Important characteristics that underpin the art include humanity, wisdom, etiquette, and trust. Tang soo do is particularly popular in the US, where it is sometimes advertised under the name of karate or Korean karate. Chuck Norris is probably its most well-known practitioner in the West. He is the six-time undefeated world professional middleweight karate champion and one-time martial teacher of Steve McQueen, Priscilla Presley, and Donny Osmond.

Han Kum Do: Han kum do (HKD) is a sword system in which the basic cutting techniques mimic the Korean script known as "hangul". It follows the fundamental principles of multiple strikes on multiple opponents. Developed by Myung Jae Nam, the art came to popular attention during the third international HKD Games in 1997.

Hangul, known as the most scientific alphabet in existence, is very easy to learn and has 24 characters (10 vowels and 14 consonants). Making the sword cuts on the letters of the alphabet is an ingenious training aid that helps students to memorize the various cuts and enables them to perform the required movements instinctively in very little time.

Won Hwa Do: Won hwa Do is a hybrid art that relies on 360-degree rotations to generate power, supporting the key philosophy that in nature there are no straight lines or angles of attack. Long-term practice, however, damages the joints and ligaments. Weapons such as the short stick, knife, and sword are routinely taught, with attacks and defends born from "bi son"-the rhythm used during traditional prayer and dance. The circular attacking motions of the art belong to the same tradition as those used for massaging injuries.

Hankido: Hankido is a hybrid martial art that incorporates aspects of aikido, with kicking and striking techniques, acrobatic flips, and kicks reminiscent of tae kwon do. Students develop "ki" Korean for "qi" to learn 12 basic self-defense moves and 24 breathing techniques. They also spin and dance to develop coordination, rhythm, timing, and softness. The art's philosophy centers on the principles of "circle," "flow," and "heart," and each has a specific exercise. "Jeon hwan bup" (the circle exercise) teaches circular moves for defense, leverage, and throwing. "Young nyu bup" (the flow exercise) encourages students to see moves as a continual interaction between themselves and their opponents, promoting an attitude of fearless, relaxed action. "Shim hwa bup" (the rowing exercise) encourages the heart to develop a fighting spirit.

Find sure bets and place them

Sport Arbitrage is an anomaly where different bookmakers have different prices for the same sporting event. This article does not try to explain it in detail, but help you find them very quickly.

An Arbitrage happens for many reasons. One example is when a bookmaker takes a large bet on the favourite in an event. If the favourite wins, the bookmaker will have to pay out a big sum. So they up the payout on the underdog to attract money on the underdog.

Finding Arbitrages are not easy. There are many happening each day, but most of them exists only for a short while. Finding it means that you have to look at the right event at the right time. This is possible and I have done many Arbitrages looking at the different bookmakers websites.

This took many hours of my time. If only all the prices could be available on one website, it would make finding an Arbitrage a bit easier.

This website is also very handy because it shows the Arbitrage percentage for each event. This meant that I did not need to calculate the Arbitrage any more. It is just a case of checking this website from time to time and scan the percentages for something less than 100%.

Once again this proved time consuming. The Arbitrage may not exist when you check the website and there are hundreds of sports to check. Sometimes the percentages are also not displayed on the main page for the sport in question.

Next I looked for Sure Bets services. I found a few, but most of them are either very expensive, or the free services are not very reliable. For instance, some services may list a sure bet, but on checking it, it is on different markets, i.e. on the Full Time result and Half Time result of a football match.
